Hudswell To Easby Abbey Circular
A charming and varied walk that begins in the quiet village of Hudswell, descends through woodland to follow the scenic River Swale, and climbs up to the evocative ruins of Easby Abbey, a former 12th-century Premonstratensian monastery. From the abbey, the route continues along riverside paths and then returns via the disused railway line of the old Richmond branch line. Along the way you’ll enjoy riverside views, woodland tranquillity, historic architecture, and peaceful countryside. It’s a moderate-difficulty circuit, well suited to a relaxing half-day walk.
Hudswell Village To High Applegarth Circular
Picturesque walk through Hudswell woods and along the River Swale picking up the Coast to Coast path at High Applegarth . then returning to Hudswell Village via Green Lane then across Reeth Road to the carpark and crossing the Swale via the footbridge following then turning right to follow the river to the Hudswell steps that will take you back up into the Village.
Hudswell Village To Richmond Race Course Via Willance's Leap
A beautiful walk from Hudswell village through Hudswell woods across the River Swale up towards Richmond Race course passing Willance’s Leap. The walk returns via Deepdale heading down towards the River Swale passing High and Low Applegarth . The path continues along the river towards Richmond, eventually passing Lownethwaite farm, before crossing Reeth road heading into the car park next to the river. Cross the Swale over the footbridge at the bottom of the carpark, and then make your way back through Hudswell Woods back up to Hudswell.
